Leveraging LinkedIn credits

By now we’ve exhausted our discussions on LinkedIn pages verses groups. If you don’t remember those conversations, go back and check out the recent posts here. If you’ve been convinced to go with a company page, then great, this post is definitely for you. If not, you may tune out here.

As an admin (we’ll talk about that a bit more in a little bit) to your company’s page, you have a unique option to grow your following organically. Every month, LinkedIn provides page admins with a set of invite credits, allowing you to invite your personal connections to follow your company’s page. This is one of the easiest and really effective ways to grow your audience by inviting people you already know in your network, to follow your page. .

What Are LinkedIn Invite Credits?

LinkedIn offers a set number of credits each month for company page admins to send invites to their connections, encouraging them to follow the page. Each invite sent uses one credit, and when a connection accepts an invite, the credit is returned to your balance, making it available for reuse. This system allows you to consistently expand your page’s reach while retaining the flexibility to reinvest credits into your outreach.

Using this method to grow your company’s following organically is an effective way to increase your brand awareness, drive engagement, and cultivate a network of followers who are genuinely interested in your content and industry expertise.

How Do LinkedIn Invite Credits Work?

LinkedIn gives each Company Page a monthly credit allocation based on the page’s reach and size. Each month, LinkedIn renews the number of available credits, allowing you to reach out to a new set of connections or re-invite those who may not have engaged previously. When a connection accepts your invitation to follow the page, the credit used for that invite is returned to your balance. This means you can reinvest those credits in future months to invite even more people. Page admins can strategically select which connections to invite, enabling you to target connections who would most likely engage with or benefit from your company’s content. By steadily increasing followers, you create more visibility for your posts, helping your company’s updates and insights reach a broader, more engaged audience over time.

Making admins

In order to do this, as mentioned, you have to be a company page admin. The Super Admin can designate who they like to be Page admins or Super Admins. It will be up to your Chapter’s leadership who they would like to have control over your company page. You can have the whole executive committee on as company admins, for this purpose of inviting connections. You may also choose to limit it for fear of people posting or interacting with others as your company page without approval. So long as you set strict guidelines on who can do what with your page, you shouldn’t have too many problems. Still consider the pros and cons of both. You may also choose to run a short term campaign with your EC members as part of page growth. You may decide to make them page admins for a time, run a series of connection invites, then to removal their adminstrative access later. This is a conversation the leadership will want to have amongst themselves.

Why You Should Use LinkedIn Invite Credits

For many organizations, organic growth is key to building an engaged audience over time. Inviting your connections to follow your page is a no-cost way to increase your follower count, especially for pages just getting started. While paid advertising has its place, leveraging organic growth tools can help establish a solid foundation and test engagement before scaling up with ad spend. Most of us don’t have the working cash to be able to do paid ads, so we want to build as big of a following within our audience for as cheap as possible.

Inviting personal connections allows you to attract followers with a likely interest in your Chapter’s content, services, or happenings. As a page admin, you can selectively choose connections who are relevant to your industry, whether they are colleagues, people within your Chapter, or even industry peers, or even potential hires. This results in an audience more likely to engage, share, and benefit from your content.

Every follower you gain through LinkedIn’s invite system increases your page’s reach. As your follower count grows, so does the potential for your posts to appear in their feeds, making it easier to showcase your brand, highlight your company’s expertise, and generate interest in your content. Over time, these connections can grow into brand advocates who amplify your company’s message and contribute to its credibility.

Since credits renew every month, you can maintain a steady, ongoing approach to follower growth. Using credits each month, instead of waiting to use them all at once, keeps the momentum going and ensures that your page is continually expanding its reach.

Tips for Maximizing Your LinkedIn Invite Credits

Be selective with your invites. Focus on inviting connections who are likely to find value in your Chapter’s content. Don’t spam people who are not in our field. But as applicable invite to those in our industry, business sector or others who may find your content beneficial to them. Communicate this balance with your page admins so you are not seen as the Chapter spamming invitations from people.

Optimize your page first. Before you begin inviting connections, ensure your LinkedIn page is well-optimized with a clear profile photo, an informative banner, and an engaging tagline. We’ve talked a bit about that in past posts. Having a polished page increases the likelihood that people will accept your invite and follow your updates.

Make sure to engage with new followers. As you grow your follower count, prioritize engagement. Respond to comments, share relevant content, and create posts that spark conversation. The more engaging your content, the more likely your new followers will stay and continue interacting with your page.

Consider planning invitations strategically around major events or campaigns. Use them around any upcoming chapter events, major chapter news etc. For instance, if you’re hosting a webinar, this can be a great time to invite connections to follow your page for updates. The thinking behind it is, if a connection accepts the inivation to follow, they will likely see recent posts you’ve made about that upcoming event. They may interact with it which gives you the opportunity to not only interact with the follower but may drive more traffic to the post as well.
